About the Center for Grundtvig Studies

Center for Grundtvig Studies operates under the auspices of the School of Culture and Society, Aarhus University. The center is dedicated to the publication of a digital scholarly edition of Grundtvig's Works, with research and dissemination. 

Key Activities of the Center: 

  • Digital Scholarly Edition of Grundtvig’s Works: This edition offers comprehensive commentary, enhancing the understanding of Grundtvig’s works. 

  • Research: We explore various fields relevant for the study of Grundtvig, including: 

  • History of Danish Christianity  

  • History of Danish Democracy 

  • History of Danish Community Singing 

  • Dissemination: Our efforts encompass knowledge exchange in various media, and via the teaching service ‘Grundtvigs Skoletjeneste’. 

The digital scholarly edition Grundtvig's Works is managed from Vartov in Copenhagen. 

Collaboration: The center engages with a diverse array of collaborators in the field of digital cultural heritage studies and preservation. The main ones are:

  • Center for Humanities Computing 

  • Center for Digital Textual Heritage
